Abstract :
An arbitrary integer picture matrix can be exactly and uniquely encoded as a tree structured discrete contour map. This new discrete contour map model requires only closed contour lines composed of chain coded vertical or horizontal unit length directed line segments. An example is given of an X-ray computed tomogram showing a brain tumor and hydrocephalus which is analyzed by this contour map image processing.
