Abstract :
The current interrupting capability of air break disconnect switches is studied and analyzed. Safe maximum magnetizing and capacitive currents that can be interrupted are calculated and compared with actual currents to be interrupted. Criteria for the application of disconnect switches from a current interrupting point of view are provided.
