Abstract :
Consider ¿ as the angle between the beam and boresight of a phased-array radar. A simple explanation is given of the beam broadening along ¿, and in proportion to secant ¿. This leads to a concise consideration of polar sin ¿ space, sine-squared space, and some associated properties. Physical relationships are depicted, without unnecessary mathematical vigor.
