Abstract :
Results of laboratory tests with simulated gap-type noise sources are reported in which microgap discharge pulses were recorded using a wide-bandwidth oscilloscope. Simultaneously, the frequency spectrum of the conducted noise in the circuit was captured. A study of the influence of different discharge circuit parameters on the pulse shape and the frequency spectrum is presented. An equivalent circuit is proposed that is capable of describing the interrelation between the current in the discharge gap and the voltage drop accessible for measurement. A computer solution is used to study the interdependence of observed pulse shape on circuit parameters. Experimental findings and computer results show the same general effect for parameter changes
