Abstract :
The combination of an unprecedented rise in the number of students entering higher education and the concomitant constraints on funding have led to a great interest amongst academic institutions in developing modular degree schemes. The paper explores the course management issues raised by the adoption of a modular structure for an engineering degree scheme at De Montfort University, Leicester, UK. Difficulties arising from the adoption of the scheme are identified and discussed. Solutions are offered based upon the author´s first-hand experience as a course leader on the scheme
