Abstract :
A study is made of the primary impedance of single phase power distribution transformers at frequencies of 2-50 kHz. This band includes the frequencies used for distribution line communications. A range of primary impedance values is found as the secondary impedance varies between 1 and 100% of full load. Then the effect of these transformers on the attenuation, phase constant and characteristic impedance of a power distribution line is computed. Calculations are compared with measurements reported elsewhere.
