Abstract :
A simple and effective technique for estimating a network path´s bottleneck bandwidth is presented. The simplicity of the technique, in terms of data and computation requirements, indicates its potential to be incorporated into network applications that would benefit from a fast estimate of bottleneck bandwidth. Its performance is tested for various network conditions using a simulator and the results are compared to the performance of existing techniques.
