Abstract :
Radiative transition probabilities have been computed for relaxation of the metastable
5F
1and
5 
-manifolds of Pm
3+YAG. The Pm
3+YAG system is analyzed for 4-level room-temperaure population inversion leading to 0.92-μ coherent radiation; Pm
3+YAG is compared to Nd
3+YAG as a CW laser.
