Abstract
The reduction of 60 Hz electric fields caused by grounded objects present in proximity of a high voltage transmission line is discussed. Field reduction is determined using a specially defined shielding function which depends only on the object´s geometry and on the distance from the object. Shielding functions have been developed for different types of objects (trees, rows of trees, box-like objects, vertical cylinders, fences, etc).
