Abstract :
The regenerative properties of four-wave mixing (FWM) in a dispersion-shifted fibre have been experimentally investigated through a pump-modulated FWM scheme. An improvement of more than 6 dB in the extinction ratio of the FWM product relative to that of the input signal is experimentally demonstrated, in satisfactory agreement with the theoretical predictions.
