This paper demonstrates that distribution managers using the extreme value theory to evaluate effectiveness of maintenance programs in lieu of the orthodox normal (gaussian) mathematical model, will benefit in diminishing the time sample size, and substantially improve the speed of feedback information from system´s responses to specific preventive maintenance programs.
