Abstract :
A wideband class-B video output driver integrated circuit is described. The circuit contains analog/digital, brightness, contrast, subcontrast, and black-level inputs. The 5-V IC dissipates 500 mW and can deliver up to 150 mA with 1-ns rise and fall times to discrete power transistors driving a CRT (cathode ray tube). The die size is 100×100 mils2, and the circuit is fabricated in an 8-GHz Si bipolar technology. A design philosophy based on noninteracting gain blocks operating on current variables allows a number of wideband functions to be independently designed and cascaded. These include black-level clamping, level shifting, gain control, and power amplification
