Abstract :
Siemens had to think long-term when a billion pound train contract included 20-year performance guarantees. This article outlines the company´s 25 m pound investment in a state of the art maintenance facility designed to make sure trains in the south of England stay in top condition. It describes the workshop in detail, including access, building management system, bogie changing equipment, maintenance monitoring and control, security, and fire detection.
