Abstract :
Mounting development costs mean fixed processor designs may have to make way for re-configurable alternatives. This article firstly outlines the rising costs and falling design starts of application-specific products. It then considers alternatives, using both configurable and reconfigurable architectures, being offered by a variety of manufacturers.
