Abstract
Real-time collaboration is a method to allow geographically scattered users to work together to accomplish a common goal. Though it can enhance productivity, it comes with a challenge of handling conflicts arising due to divergent user intentions. In this paper, we propose an analytical model for estimating probability of conflict and suggest a novel speculative user intent based concurrency control (SIC) mechanism. The method employs object properties for collaborators´ actions in a real-time collaborative environment to resolve concurrency. Results are shown to outperform the existing methods. Furthermore, we evaluate its readiness to be adopted by the industry and provide conclusions and directions for future work.
