Abstract
Hydrogen decrepitation (HD) of Nd-Fe-B cast alloys is widely used in the processing of sintered magnets. The oxidation resistance under air of alloy powder obtained by HD can be greatly improved by partial degassing. Magnets made after this heat treatment show better properties than those prepared by the standard HD route. Optimum magnetic properties due to limited oxygen uptake are obtained in magnets made from powder exposed to air for a certain time
