Abstract :
A technique for the measurement of the distributed Raman gain along an optical link is described. Using a tunable OTDR measurement setup, it is shown that it is possible to determine the Raman gain spectrum of each fibre of an optical link. Results obtained for step-index and dispersion compensating fibres are reported.
