Multirate SIC receiver for UMTS

A multirate successive interference cancellation (MSIC) receiver for the UMTS uplink is presented. The receiver takes into account the multirate nature of the UMTS signal based on variable length codes to select the strongest user, which is detected and cancelled. The proposed scheme outperforms other commonly employed receivers such as the minimum mean squared error receiver and the correlation receiver.
