Abstract :
Adaptive evolution strategies without crossover are used to design precompensators for linear multivariable plants. Such compensators are required to achieve diagonal-dominant plant transfer function matrices in order to reduce plant interactions as much as possible. The effectiveness of the evolutionary design technique is illustrated by synthesising a multivariable pre-compensator for the Rolls-Royce Spey jet engine.
