Abstract :
We developed recently a high speed DC linear motor which uses on-board normal-conducting DC electromagnets and air-core track coils to produce both thrust and lift. Subsequent research has been aimed at applying the linear motor to a new-type of railway system. Past of this research had been directed toward the train operation control system for the DC linear motor, and has resulted in the evolution of a new control system in which constant speed running and station stopping of trains are successfully achieved.
