Abstract :
In Brazil, CAPES (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior) regulates graduate programs at universities. This agency belongs to the Ministry of Education (MEC) and it is empowered to recommend or discredit graduate courses. Graduate programs are required to coordinate their strategies and actions to comply with the requisites of the evaluation system. This study investigated the influence of "co-authorship networks" on the performance of graduate programs in the CAPES evaluation system. We used a quantitative research method to assess the correlation between co-authorship networks and the evaluations of the programs in the field of Business Management, Accounting, and Tourism, from 2001 to 2009. The results show a positive relationship between the consolidation of co-authorship groups and the score obtained by the graduate programs in the CAPES evaluation system.
