Abstract
Experimental studies have been made to develop an effective technique for diagnosing mechanical failures of SF6 gas circuit breakers (GCB) from the outside. In order to verify the effectiveness of this methods, GCB was assembled, simulated defective parts being included, and was operated at a very low operating speed. The changes of the driving force, vibratory acceleration and stroke of the moving parts were measured during such operation.
