  • Abstract
    The study intends to clarify the relationship between open innovation and innovation performance through the examination of the mediation role of intellectual capital. Total valid 948 samples of service firms are compiled from The Second Taiwan Innovation Survey (TTIS) from year of 2004 to 2006. Based on research hypotheses are being developed from reviewing literature, the conceptual model using Hierarchical Multiple Regression (HMR) Structural and Equation Modeling (SEM) has been employed to examine hypothesis and model fits. The results show that the impact of openness strategies on innovation performance becomes indirect through the partial mediator of intellectual capital. This study has both theoretical and practical implications. All the hypotheses are supported. The model is able to assess what factors will affect the firm´s collaboration and innovation in terms of intellectual capitals. Results show that intellectual capital is crucial to the development of the relationship between open innovation and innovation performance.
