Abstract :
In power generating stations many equipments experience premature wearout failures. If there are a number of related equipments, then a regular pattern of-occurrences may arise from premature failures with the same syndrome. For various reasons, the operator then is most directly concerned with when each failure in the sequence. will occur. This paper is an attempt to rationalize the . behavior in time of a number and variety of these failure occurence patterns, and to refine certain mathematical models used to represent this behavior in time. It was found that for individual syndromes, many of the early failure occurrence patterns can be characterized by their time to first failure.
