Abstract
Compact, gas insulated stations have many advantages over conventional stations, but pose a unique problem in the conduct of field acceptance tests. This paper describes a solution to the field test problem using metal enclosed test equipment. Power frequency tests at 500 kV, requiring 3350 KVA, and dc tests at 320 kV were successfully carried out in the indoor 49th Street switching station in New York City using this equipment.
