Abstract
The author presents a method derived from the exponential model of reliability to answer the question of whether software is good enough for release. This zero-failure method is a decision technique that specifies the number of test hours before software release in which no additional test failures are permitted to be found. This method has been applied at the release of 75 software products. The initial results indicate that the method does provide useful information for quality-assurance purposes.<>
