Title :
New and revised - what´s keeping IEEE-SA busy these days
Abstract :
This paper discusses the IEEE standards association approval on the revised standard for power distribution reliability indices and the start of a new standard project for application of harmonic limits to power standards "IEEE P519.1". This helps utilities and building owners develop and implement harmonic limits in the electric power systems. It provides application examples and procedures for controlling harmonics on power systems and recommends limits for customer harmonic injection and overall power system harmonic levels. Also, the IEEE Electrical Safety Resource Center is a Web site offering current information on electrical safety standards, meetings, and best practices. Lastly, IEEE-SA also approved a new standard for surge protective equipment for ac rotating machinery. It also approves the start of work on new standards for distribution and power external fuses; high-voltage, current limiting motor starter fuses and automatic circuit reclosers and fault interrupters.
