Abstract :
This work provides a brief introduction to the different articles included in this issue. This issue features three articles on 21st century and future electric transportation technology and another article describing a vehicle (MMP) that has been developed for the New York ISO. It also includes a commentary that points out that not only is energy delivered by the electric system but the reactive component is always there and is an essential as the real and another one that claims that the US grid is more reliable today than it was at the time of 2003´s blackout. It provides a look back at the electric power industry in North America that evolved through the latter part of the 19th and better part of the 20th centuries with major technological contributions made by GE and Westinghouse.
