Abstract :
A hybrid electromagnetic micro-relay with a bistable wiggling microactuator and a micro-fabricated electrical brush is developed. The switching power consumption is only 28.8 mJ owing to the bistable operation but the switching time is as short as 0.3 mS because of the in-plane movement and sandwich driving mechanism. As a power relay its maximum load current is over 2 A.
