Abstract :
This paper describes the world´s first HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) hardware encoder for SHV (Super Hi-Vision). SHV is an 8K UHDTV (Ultra-High Definition Television) system that has a 7,680 × 4,320 pixel resolution. The developed encoder compresses SHV pictures in real-time using 17 encoding units. The coded picture provides acceptable level of image quality without major defect at 85 Mbps.
