Abstract :
A novel approach to the design of multiplierless filters, based on the ACF (amplitude change function), is discussed. The prototype filter chosen is a CCOS (the cascade of the cosine functions) which requires no multipliers and only some adders. The required filter specifications are met by multiple use of the same CCOS filter. Effects due to coefficient quantisation do not arise when using the new approach. No multipliers are required to implement this filter.
