Abstract
This paper presents a technique for the evaluation of loss of load probalility (LOLP) in hydrothermal generating systems. LOLP evaluation is carried out by a mixed simulation/analytical approach that takes into account the effect of reservoir depletion on the output capacities of the hydroelectric units. The characteristic behaviour of generation reliability indices in hydro systems is illustrated by a case study using the Brazilian South/Southeast configuration.
