Abstract :
ITAIPU Hydroelectric Project is being developed under bi-national ownership of Brazil and Paraguay. Plant rated capacity of 12 600 MW makes ITAIPU to be the largest in the world single generating station of any type. This paper provides project and equipment data, describes main design features and discusses factors, which led to their selection.
