  • Abstract
    A glass waveguide amplifier was constructed in an Er3+- and Yb3+-doped phosphate glass. The waveguide channels were defined via a field-assisted Ag+ diffusion process. A net gain of 4.1 dB was measured at 1534 nm in a 3-mm length waveguide.
