Abstract :
In order to reschedulethe real power generation to satisfy a set of load changes, a LP problem is formulated and solved by the Simplex method. Beside real power rescheduling, the method also handles line outages, generation outages, load curtailment and maximum load distribution. The method uses only equality constraints on the generations, loads, and line phase angles, and can solve the load flow as well as the optimal dispatch problem with linear generation cost function. The method is iterative with the property that it does not require the use of penalty factors or determination of gradient step size which can cause convergence difficulties. Convergence was obtained in two iterations for all the applications of the method when tested on the IEEE-14 bus test system. Numerical experience suggests that the method has the potential for on-line applications at practical time intervals.
