Abstract :
Power line communication, abbreviated as PLC, is a communication technology that uses existing power transmission lines to carry data. It is also known by many other names such as power line carrier and broadband using power line communication. PLC is used in a wide range of applications, like home automation, Internet access and also smart grid communication. However, due to the nature of the communication link (over power lines), PCL suffers the effect of different noise components. In this paper, asynchronous noise is further analyzed in PLC systems using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). It is well-known that the above noise is one the critical elements to be modeled and analyzed. In this paper, the OFDM sub-carriers are modulated using BPSK, 4-QAM and 16-PSK.
