Abstract :
The three discussions in this paper are all concerned with practical aspects of bulk power system reliability computations. The first describes promising methods for contingency selection, contingency evaluation and the determination of reliability indices. The second discusses some models and solution methods based on a Monte Carlo simulation of the system´s behavior, an approach often favoured in Europe. The last discussion reviews the data required in bulk system reliability studies, and stresses the need for data on common-node and station-originated line outages.
