Abstract
The paper is based on analytical expressions of line impedance and admittance in terms of the complex variable s = a + iw. Therefore, transfer functions of lines with homogeneous earth return, such as terminal admittances or two-port parameters, also become functions of s. Their poles have been obtained by the secant method and then the residues have been calculated. The resultant rational transfer functions approximate very closely the transcendental ones along the w-axis and sample transients calculated are in good agreement with those obtained using the inverse Fourier transform.
