Comparative study of digital image enhancement approaches

Image enhancement can effectively improve the perception of information from images. This paper provides a comparative study of enhancement approaches applied to digital images with special emphasis on medical images. The paper is organized as follows: Section I gives general introduction to image enhancement approaches along with their critical review. Section II gives a brief description of enhancement approaches. Section III presents some image quality measuring techniques. Section IV presents the simulation results obtained using these approaches. Finally, Section V presents conclusions and future work.
