Buxton and Muller Presentations Recapped and Illustrated Bill Buxton discussed "surface computing" -- large flat touch-sensitive displays mounted on a wall or used as interactive tables that will be integrated into our work and living environments much like furniture or art. New developments in large inexpensive display technologies empower this emerging type of computational device. Mike Muller commented on the challenges facing embedded processor designers as technology penetrates every day life. Electronic devices empowered by embedded processor cores require partnerships among core developers, semiconductor companies, and OEMs, and demand close attention to technology trends, from fundamental technology to application requirements.
