Abstract :
A new modelling method for computing the AC resistance of litz wire in windings is presented. The method, being analytically based, is not subject to mesh limitations encountered with numerical methods and can handle multiturn windings with an unlimited number of strands. A feature of this approach is that, as analytical equations are used, it requires less computing power and can be implemented on smaller desktop computers. Experimental measurements are presented which support the validity of this method
