Abstract
The paper is intended to provide a description of the four pumped storage generator motors to be supplied to Duke Power Company for the Bad Creek Project. Descriptions are provided for the general unit construction, the cooling system, the thrust bearing and structural design. The most unique aspect is the arrangement of the forced fan ventilation system which uses twenty motor driven fans to direct air in very controlled paths. The system was the result of prototype laboratory tests and recent experience at the Balsam Meadow Pumped Storage Plant of Southern California Edison.
