Abstract :
Expressions for the self and mutual impedances within a radiating system are developed by the use of the generalized reciprocity theorem. These expressions are given in terms of the distributions of the electric field intensities along the radiators. A method for the determination of the field intensities is outlined. Formulas for the self and mutual impedances in several types of directional antennas are given. Questions of practical interest in connection with arrays of half-wave dipoles, long parallel wires, and "V" type radiators are discussed. Different types of reflector systems are considered. Curves of the more important relations are shown. The mathematical development is shown in an appendix.
