Abstract :
This paper describes a numerical method for the optimnization of the contour of three-dimensional electrodes and its application to insulation design. The ruethod is based on an improved surface charge method using curved surface elements and a contour correction technique using a simple vector computation. Because the use of curved surface elements provides a good approximation of the three-dimensional electrode contour, the correction of electrode contour can be performed both smoothly and easily. The application of the method to insulation design is illustrated by some practical models.
