Abstract :
We have studied the ATV-VCR tape format, which realizes the multi-speed mode, based on the 6 mm VCR. A larger data amount are assigned for the slower trick play to realize a high picture quality in accordance with the human visual characteristic. The tape format and data placement require easy tracking and flexibility of various head structures. The tape format is based on 4-track sequence for easy tracking. Each trick play data has its own data recording area
