Abstract :
A concise approach to radial power system reliability analysis is presented. This method builds up the outage table (system margin table) of a radial power system from the outage tables of its constituent elements in a systematic way requiring less computation than has been hitherto possible. The constituents of the outage table are cumulative probability and frequency functions of operating capacity and are the only parameters of the formulas for combining elements. An "outage table" for a load model compatible with the method is also presented. Examples based on the IEEE Reliability Test System are discussed.
