Abstract :
A fast vector quantization (VQ) encoder for video signals is developed. The video signal is encoded by VQ in a frame by frame manner. The VQ encoder can quickly search the codebook for a minimum distortion codeword by exploiting the spatial and temporal redundancy as well as using the dimension reduction technique. Finally a simplified labels replenishment technique is employed for bit rate reduction
