Abstract :
In designing an electronic credit and load management system to a user specification, the designer continually has to make choices between different design strategies, products, etc. and make decisions where no previous experience exists. The paper details key decisions in the design of a UK system and gives reasons where a choice has been made under both functional and hardware headings. The paper concludes that, in designing such an electronic management system, a fusion of senior utility management knowledge with design experience in sophisticated micro-electronic and communication technologies is required.
