Abstract
This paper describes a digital simulation technique to compute the random process parameters of the fault-induced noise signals. The autocorrelation functions, variance and spectra of the noise signals are obtained for an example of a typical power system. Empirical formulas are obtained which may be applied in computer relaying based on estimation theory, statistical approaches, or in the design of digital filters for computer relaying.
