Abstract :
The two distinct technical specialty areas of failure detection in stochastic dynamical systems and the detection and tracking of target maneuvers by radar or optics are identified as two separate disciplines that have achieved results by using modeling techniques. These techniques can be cross-applied to the other specialty area, which is revealed to have in common the same underlying mathematical formulation of the even detection problem
